Michigan Climate Action Network 2023

“sharing our stories”

In 2023, I was asked by the Michigan Climate Action Network (MiCAN) to create an installation for their annual conference that would allow participants to express themselves creatively during the day. Due to limitations on space and time, we created a series of banners that allowed participants to respond to several climate questions by writing directly on the banners. The large participatory drawing of mycelium was meant to represent our interconnectedness. Direct questions sparked participants’ imagination about the challenges of climate change while inspiring their commitment to the cause.

ACTION DAY IN LANSING, OCT 2023

We wanted to find more opportunities to collect responses to climate questions we crafted for the Summit. A great opportunity arose when many state-wide advocacy groups met in Lansing for a Climate Advocacy Day in October 2023.

MiCAN also created a form so that we could reach an online audience. Answers collected online were creatively scribed onto the banners by Art History students studying manuscript illumination in Prof. Galina Tirnanic’s Splendid Pages Art History Class.
